The Shitstorm

By Maeve Stone

description

The Shitstorm

Miranda’s been stuck on the island with her dad Prospero for a while now and things have been pretty bad. His threats to give up his magic have always been hollow until now. He's run out on her and it's all gotten a whole lot worse. Ariel is out of a job, Caliban is dangerously bored and Miranda is a teenage girl with no supervision. When the real storm hits she finally starts acting like one.

To bring this punk revision to the Peacock stage we need your support!

The Shitstorm is an hallucinogenic west-Kerry riff on Shakespeare's The Tempest conjured from the hilarious imagination of Simon Doyle (Offplan, Oedipus Loves You, Thwaite) and directed by Maeve Stone (Pan Pan, Abbey Theatre). The talented creative team includes this year’s Irish Times Irish Theatre Award winning lighting designer Zia Bergin-Holly (Pan Pan, Rough Magic, Young Vic) and costume design by Saileog O’Halloran (Abbey theatre, Dead Centre Theatre). The show will also feature original music, and songs performed live by the cast.

We have been fortunate to receive production support from The Abbey Theatre and Dublin Fringe Festival which will cover modest fees for all creatives and performers. However there is a significant shortfall in the production costs. In order to realise the musical and technical challenges associated with the staging of the play we need your support to raise €6,500.

This funding will go towards the physical staging at the Peacock Theatre; set, costume, props and musical equipment. The more we can raise, the more fully we will be able to realize the hilarious, strange and unsettling world of the play.

Your support will ensure that we can honour the vision of these extraordinary artists. We’ve put together some fantastic rewards so please help us to conjure The Shitstorm at The Peacock this September!

Thanks!
