The Staff Room by Jamie J. Patrick Flynn

By Gasworks Productions

14 students murdered, 10 injured and 'Jerry The Gerbil', the school's mascot, isn't looking too great either.

When the stresses of daily school life becomes too much for Harold Cod, the science teacher at St. Jesus Secondary School Kilbegings, he decides to seek retribution in the form of a pipette and 2B pencil; sending the school on a series of events starting with a visit from a tyrannical American school auditor; John Foresyth, or Jan for short.

The decision by Superintendent Swift and the Board of Education to recruit John, an ex-World War II general, heralds yet another series of cuts, checks and balances for St. Jesus, reducing the moral of the staff to nothing.

But 5 teachers, Frank, the arrogant English teacher, Gerry, the traditionalist Maths teacher, Derek, the jock PE teacher, Patricia, the feminist Irish and Social Religion teacher and Steven, the dream-like school's Councillor and Special Needs teacher, decide to set aside their differences and to band together to find out who John Foresyth really is.

Set in a fictional Irish village in the 70's, 'The Staff Room' is an original comedy by Jamie John Patrick Flynn. It tells a fantastical and surreal story of how drastically people can change when all introduced to a common enemy.

Jamie, writer and founder of Gasworks Productions, has written more than 12 short plays over the past 8 years which have been shown in venues such as Hive Gallery and Garter Lane, to great success.

'The Staff Room' will premiere during the Imagine Arts Festival in Central Arts Waterford on October 20th to 24th.

All funds pledged will go towards helping Gasworks Productions put on the best possible show imaginable. It will help pay Central Arts, for the venue, EveryEvent, for production costs and for things like props and costumes.

We believe in the arts and in our vision for making and producing high quality entertainment; and with your help we hope to continue this trend of showcasing original performance pieces for many years to come.

All donations are greatly appreciated,

Many thanks,

Gasworks Productions
