The Trip (Short Horror Film)

By ShotBySanti

What This Project Is About

The Trip is our homage to classic horror films from the 70's and 80's such as John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) and George A Romero's Dawn Of The Dead (1978). We hope to use some of the best equipment, beautiful lighting and practical effects to make this look as authentic as possible.

Our story follows three friends who go camping to celebrate their friendship. But in the dark mysterious woods there is a force of unearthly evil lurking.
And it is hungry...

We don't want to give too much away but you'll be sure to be in for a thrilling experience and we'd love to have your support in making this project come to life!

In order to produce a high quality call back to 80's aesthetic horror films, we'd love to use practical effects and appropriate equipment. Filmmaking is expensive and funders are a necessary step towards professional shoots.

Thank you so much for looking over this project and, if you're interested in what we're doing, be sure to check out the perks we have available and please share this page around to help support us further!

September Update! (Online PREMIERE!)

Hi guys!

We're incredibly excited to announce that the film will be released for you all September 16th at 8pm!

We were hoping to have the physical screening before we released this but since it's been taking longer than expected to organise, we just wanted to get it to you guys now. We should have the physical screening soon and we'll let you know when we do.

The film can't be released to the public yet as it makes its way around to festivals but we'll be sending out a private link via email so be sure to check your inboxes for that!

Thank you for all your support, we can't wait for you guys to finally see this thing!

Quick July Update No.2! (TEASER!)

Hi all!

In case you missed it - we released a teaser for the film, which you can watch here! We hope you enjoy it and we can't wait to share the film once it's out (which should be this August!).

We've also just sent out the t-shirts and physical scripts. We know we stated postage wasn't included in the perk but because these have been delayed for longer than anticipated we've decided to go ahead and cover that cost.

Physical posters and DVD's should be sent in the next couple of weeks too.

Thank you for all your support and patience, we can't wait to share this project with you!

April Update!

Hey guys!

Very excited to announce we completed principle photography for the film last week! Big big thanks to everyone involved, it was a tough shoot but we pulled through.

In terms of where we are now, the following is what's being planned for post production over the next couple of months:

  • Editing.
  • Sound design.
  • Composing the music.
  • Adding VFX.
  • Color grading and completing the film.

We plan to have this finalised by May - June with updates being posted along the way.

We hope to start sending out any non-film dependant perks by the end of May. E.g. T-Shirts, posters etc

Can't wait for you all to see this finished product, it's been a blast, stay tuned!

We reached our goal!!

Hey guys, Santiago here, just a quick word to say thank you so so much to you all for donating and helping us absolutely SMASH our goal! It's incredible that we were able to achieve this and we're very grateful for your support.

As regards to where we are with the film, here's a little update on what's been done so far:

  • We've location scouted and have locations ready to shoot in.
  • Character artwork has been done.
  • We have about 90% of the crew confirmed for shooting (still looking for drivers).
  • Propmakers are currently working on all the props we need for the film.
  • Rehearsals have begun to take place for the actors.
  • I've begun working with the camera department to plan the shoot so we can stay on schedule.
  • I've been working with makeup to assess what we'll need for prosthetics.

I'm also excited to announce that our t-shirt design is complete!

We collaborated with Koleman Angle (who also did our poster) and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out!

There's still lots to do and lots that is being done (that I want to keep secret for now) but stay tuned and I'll keep you guys updated!

Thanks again for all your support, we can't wait to make this thing!
