ABOUT THE PROJECT
This is How we Fly are at a stage in our development where we are looking to record and release the follow-up to our acclaimed first album. In our six year history, we have been lucky enough to perform all around Ireland, Europe and the US and what has become a special and vital aspect of this band is how different and unique each concert is.
It is for this reason that we have decided to record this album in front of a live audience over three evenings in the Fumbally Stables, Dublin 8. There will be a small crowd at each concert, and each will be unique and special. The entire three days will be professionally recorded and filmed and the result will be a finished album to distribute to all of the supporters who pledged on fund:it.
THE TEAM
We have compiled a wonderful team together to make this project happen to a high standard from start to finish. We are bringing over a sound engineer from Sweden who is acutely aware of our desired sound for this record, Myles O Reilly (Arbutus Yarns) and Donal Dineen will film the entire three days to their usual impeccable standard, and we will work with the beautiful Fumbally Stables to ensure that these concerts will be events to remember for years to come for all who attend.
WHY WE ARE CROWDFUNDING
We are crowdfunding this to make up the shortfall that will be evident after we have used our other sources of funding, which is a Deis grant from the Arts Council and our own funding. We believe the pledges offer good value and that the three events will be a hot ticket, so we wish to offer something a little different to both our audiences and ourselves!
WHERE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS GO
If successful, the money will be spent on venue hire of the Fumbally Stables, the audio engineer's fee, accommodation for the three foreign based members of the party, mixing, mastering, artwork, duplication, photography, filming of the events, and travel costs for the three foreign based members of the party.
CHALLENGES
Two main challenges we will encounter are logistical challenges (Sweden & US travel costs) and sound issues (recording an album live in a non-traditional recording studio). We intend to overcome these challenges by hiring an engineer who is acutely aware of our desired sound, of working with the Fumbally Stables whom we trust, and the Deis award allows us to purchase travel and accommodation well in advance.
THANK YOU!
We want to sincerely thank everyone for reading and supporting our project. We are extremely committed and excited to bring this album out to the world and it simply could not happen if it were not for the generosity and support of all of you.
