Hello, my name is Sarah McGahon and I make gorgeous hats. I have a showroom/studio in the Old Courthouse in Bray, County Wicklow.
After a brief stint working on The Tudors, I am now self-employed since Summer 09. My main clients are Mother of the Bride and Ladies Day ladies and I also rent out some of my pieces. Exciting times when in April 2011, Amy Huberman wore my Hat to the Royal Wedding. And last September I discovered Lady Gaga chose one of my pieces to wear, a Jewel encrusted 3ft high Treble Clef. (a Picture of this is on my Pinterest Account)
In a World First, premiered in May 2013, in Medley, Dublin, I showcased my new "Chrysalis" collection, a series of 5 headpieces that are interchangeable pieces that create multiple looks. Pictures are on my Facebook page and Blog, Sarah McGahon Millinery.
The hat market in Ireland is small and the opportunities for inspiration limited. I am excited by the possibilities of travelling to London and attending the Fashion Trade Show to see the standard of work in other markets, raise my own profile, expand my market, and fuel my inspiration for future collections. As well as the Trade Show, I will visit Independent Boutiques and Department stores to show off my work and raise awareness.
The Fund It Campaign will go towards funding the cost of the Stand which is about GBP 2,500, a photo-shoot for my creations, design and print material, update my website, design of crest, (all the branding essentials) I am going to drive to London with all my new Hats, so the cost of the Ferry is about €400.
This is an enormous opportunity and vital step to my business and ongoing creativity. I find London really inspiring from the museums to the hustle and bustle of the melting pot of many international cultures. I feel this will inspire my and strengthen my business and design ethic.
I chose to use Fund It as they are an Irish Company and like me the are innovative and they support creativity. The rewards, should you choose to participate are really brilliant, easy access to Haute Couture Millinery. If you're not in a position to "Fund It" can you pass this message on to your friends & colleagues.
Tell of your friends.
Thank-you for taking the time to read this.
