Gypsy Vanner

By Maeve McGrath

"Gypsy Vanner" is a short film that looks at the return of Francie Vaughan back to his halting site in Limerick after a tragic event at a fair. This is the story of the fallout from this unexpected start to his married life. When his young bride returns to the halting site they struggle to deal with the anger and disappointment they both feel. This is a film that looks at loss, love and traveller tradition.

SIDHE FILM is a production company based in Limerick.and we have a fantastic cast and crew waiting in the wings to film in the stunning scenery of the Ballyhoura Region.

This film has been a labour of love for writer and producer Maeve McGrath for many years. She was keen to film in the Ballyhoura Region to showcase the natural beauty of the region. Maeve has worked in television and film as an actor and producer working with RTE, BBC, ITV, TG4 and independent companies.

"Gypsy Vanner" also sees the first time collaboration of Sidhe Film with independent Producer/Director Colm Higgins. He is the current Administration Manager of the Fingal Film Festival as well as being a former founding member of web video production company 'Tree Light Pictures'. "Vanner" will be Colm's debut in the director's chair.
