My name is Ellen Woods AKA VocaPeach (PeachyP) . I’m a music composer living and working in Portadown. I have always enjoyed listening to music and had an interest in composing but because I couldn't (and still can't) sing very well I never really progressed past using Dance E-Jay (a music making software that uses pre-made samples). Four years ago a friend of mine introduced me to vocal synthesizers and I became hooked. Since then I have been learning the ins and outs of creating, mixing and mastering digital music and VOCALOID.
What is VOCALOID?
VOCALOID is a computer software program that creates Vocals by inputting words on a piano roll. This allows musicians to produce vocals without the need of a human vocalist.
VOCALOID was created by YAMAHA in 2004. Vocaloid became a worldwide sensation 4 years later with the release of Hatsune Miku in 2008. To find out more about Hatsune Miku please visit vocaleak.com/walkin-beat-fund-it-campaign
How do I make music?
I use a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) called FL Studio. In this program I can create realistic sounding digital instruments and place notes on a piano roll to make a pattern. When I have all the basic patterns created (bassline, drums, arpeggio and vocal melody) I can arrange them in Playlist editor to form a song. To create the Vocals, I import a midi it to VOCALOID3 and insert words into each note the tune for a more realistic sound. Once everything is completed, I insert the vocals into my track, mix them and then master the entire track.
Why do I need funding?
This is my first time creating a solo album and I want to make sure I do it right and make it look good.
Your contribution will help go towards the physical copies of Walkin' Beat, help pay for professional art, printing the lyrics booklet and packaging and posting. All my printing needs will be taken care of by my local printer specialist, All Print NI.
What's in it for you?
You will get twelve tracks (and a few bonus remixes) of, "walk to the beat", dance music savour one or two tracks to help you catch your breath. Walkin' Beat will come with an illustrated lyrics book.
The project time is short as I would like everything ready for Q-Con (a convention held by Queen's University, in Belfast) so I am aiming for the 15th of June. I already have three quarters of the album complete and I am powering on ahead to the finish line.
After Q-Con and the prizes have been sent out, if there are remaining physical copies, I plan to take them to other Conventions or sell them on my bandcamp page.
To keep you up to date with my progress I will be posting works in progress, acapellas and I will have Miku talk to you about the weather.
Thank you to everyone that funds, promotes, shares and even glances at my project.
