WIT Youth Choir: Carnegie Hall

By WIT Choral Programme

description

In January 2017 the WIT Youth Choir will perform in the world famous Carnegie Hall. This campaign helps make it a reality for the group's 46 members; a once in a lifetime event.

Fund It - Without fundraising, the cost of the trip is close to €50,000. This would result in each member needing to pay in excess of €1,000 with some families having two members in the choir. To make this once in a lifetime opportunity a reality for our members, a number of fundraising events (Concert, Christmas raffle etc.) have been organised, of which this Fund it campaign is key.

In order to ensure that none of our singers are excluded from the trip for financial reasons our target is to raise €10,000 across all of our activities, so the more we can raise here, the better. We hope you will consider being a sponsor and thus a partner who has helped make this extraordinary project happen. We would invite you to look through our rewards, where we hope amongst our many options there is something to interest you. If you would like to find out some more about the choir and the performance at Carnegie Hall please feel free to read on below.

WIT Youth Choir - Since its inception over ten years ago the WIT Youth Choir has built a reputation as one of the foremost Youth Choirs in the country. We have been awarded prizes at regional, national and international music festivals and our alumni have gone on to be members of many leading amateur and professional choirs, including Irish Youth Choir and World Youth Choir.

In 2016 we became the first youth choir ever to win ‘National Choir of the Year’ at the Navan Choral festival and later that year received a Gold Award at the International Youth Music Festival in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Carnegie Hall is considered one of the most prestigious music venues in the world. The main hall, the Issac Stern Auditorium, seats nearly 3,000 patrons and has played host to the most accomplished musicians in the fields of classical, jazz, folk and pop for over 100 years.

The concert which the WIT Youth Choir have been invited to perform at is entitled ‘Of War, Peace & the Power of Music’ and takes place in the main auditorium. It will feature choirs from both second and third level institutes throughout the USA, culminating in a combined performance accompanied by the Carnegie Hall organ.

The repertoire for the concert will represent Ireland’s heritage and culture and features the best of both traditional and contemporary Irish choral music.

Thank you so much for all your support!
