I am neither an academic nor a historian. I’m not even a ‘real’ swimmer. I am more the fair-weather sort who dips my toes in the shallow waters at Seapoint on a sunny day when there isn’t an ‘r’ in the month! As a long-term resident of Dún Laoghaire however, the sea is in my blood. Dún Laoghaire has historically and traditionally been a centre for bathing. From Dirt and Dips to Dryrobes is my attempt to provide a snapshot of bathing in the area through the ages.
